"Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time."  

               " Painting is an escape for me. I get to use my imagination and try to bring a moment in
   history back to life. When I am painting, I really feel that it takes me back to that time and place, and I try
   to picture what it might have been like. I know I can never fully show what it was like, nobody knows what
   these men and women went through, but if I can help tell their story through my art or make someone want
   to learn more about it, then I did my job."
